The tutors of onslow literacy council inc.

Picture
Our tutors come from all backgrounds: the OLC family includes former teachers, doctors, immigrants, military members, Service Learning students from Coastal Carolina Community College, and a host of other people with varied occupations and life experiences. Despite having different histories and education levels, our tutors all have one thing in common: they love Onslow Literacy and are passionate about helping our students and community members find joy in literacy and education.

   Linda Watts

Not all may have known her by name, but Linda Watts was a tutor, a friend, and a loving caring person.  She was a presence in Onslow Literacy Council from our early days.  Her contributions helped make OLC the more viable productive organization we are today.
Linda was a member of the first tutor class sponsored by our council.  Linda could always be counted on to respond with enthusiasm when extra volunteer work, time or energy was needed.  She was often one of the ladies seen preparing and setting out food at OLC events.
As is the case with most of that early group of tutors, through their dedication and enthusiastic participation in tutoring and fund raising, OLC is stronger and has led to the larger corps of tutors we enjoy and count on today.

Anne Treffeisen Lyon was one of our very committed Volunteers. She had been with us almost since the beginning. Anne was ready to fill in wherever needed. She was needed the most for her beautiful handwriting! She lost her long fight with cancer in 2017. We miss her kind heart and her beautiful smile every day!
