Illiteracy: The downfall of American Society It is a chronic crisis of huge proportions, one that keeps millions of Americans living in the shadows.
Every resident of Onslow County should be able to enjoy and benefit from literacy skills. Adults who improve their basic education, specifically their reading skills, are able to secure better employment and improve quality of life for themselves and their families. We recruit and train local volunteers – teachers, students, retirees, ministers – caring people from all walks of life, who help provide FREE tutoring services for adults who desire to improve their reading and writing skills. Lessons are tailored to each learner’s individual strengths and needs.
